Get a Vietnam Visa to Visit Magical Ha Long Bay

One of Vietnam's most exquisite natural treasures, Ha Long Bay is located along the coast in Quảng Ninh province. Local legend has it that the bay was created by a family of friendly dragons, send by the gods to help the Vietnamese defend their land against the Chinese. Over 3,000 islands and islets rise out of the crystal blue waters, covered with jungle and surreal rock formations. Many of the islands have caves to explore, and some even have lakes. Is it any wonder that Ha Long Bay was nominated to be one of the World's 7 Natural Wonders in 2009?

Vietnam Visa Requirements to Visit Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park

This week's featured UNESCO World Heritage Site is in Vietnam, 500 kilometers south of Hanoi. Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is located on the site of one of the world's largest karst systems. Karst is a type of terrain that is distinguished by limestone rock formations and caves. Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park contains 65-70 kilometers worth of caves and underwater rivers.
Of the 300 caves and grottoes located in the park, only 20 have been studied and mapped. The most spectacular of these caves is Phong Nha Cave, which is 7729 meters long. Although tourists are only allowed to see the first 1,500 meters of the cave, it is a popular destination due to its numerous grottoes and 13,969 meter-long underground river.

Tourism is a growing industry in Vietnam. According to Wikipedia, the tourism industry in Vietnam grew 63 percent between the years of 1999 and 2004. About 8 or 9 percent of the foreign tourists who visited Vietnam in 2004 were from the US.
This year, in 2010, the government of Vietnam is celebrating a National Year of Tourism, so it's a particularly exciting time to visit.
However, American citizens visiting Vietnam must have Vietnamese visas. To get a Vietnamese tourist visa, you need the following documents:
Your US passport
A completed Vietnamese visa application
A recent passport photo, taken within the past 6 months.
Also, you must apply ahead of time to get a Vietnamese visa. Some countries will issue tourist visas to travelers when they arrive at the airport,
